What is the Douglas County Health Center?

The Douglas County Health Department (DCHD) has been granted funds for the planning and implementation of a School Based Health Center (SBHC) within Douglas County. According to the Illinois Department of Public Health, SBHCs are responsible for providing comprehensive primary and preventative physical, mental health, and health education services for students and their families. Some services provided may be limited, based on local need and expertise. However referral opportunities will be available as these instances may occur.

The (SBHC) provided by the DCHD will be called the DoCo Health Center (DCHC). The DCHC will be located at 1250 E US HWY 36, Tuscola, Illinois 61953 within the main DCHD building. The DCHC has a medical provider on staff to provide primary and convenient care and has recently hired a mental health provider. All clients/patients will be served regardless of ability to pay. Medicaid and many private insurances will be accepted, and a sliding fee scale based on income will be utilized.

Matya Riley, FNP-C, is certified to provide well-baby checks, diagnose, and treat patients of all ages including newborns. All students attending schools within Douglas County will receive services with parent/guardian consent. All Douglas County students and their immediate household members are eligible to receive services.

The structure of DCHC contains an advisory board composed of educators, community members, health department employees, and individuals employed by Douglas County in various roles. All clients/patients will be served regardless of ability to pay. Medicaid and many private insurances will be accepted, and a sliding fee scale based on income will be utilized. We are hopeful to start seeing patients/clients as soon as February 2023!
