Breastfeeding & Lactation Counseling

What is the Douglas County Health Department Breastfeeding Support Program?

The Breastfeeding Support Program is a division of our Women Infants and Children program.  We support and encourage mothers through education and one-on-one counseling sessions. While there are many benefits to breastfeeding; it is the healthiest and most economical way to nourish new babies. We can provide instructions to new mothers on how to breastfeed and if needed, can help work through a difficulty as your nursing/pumping, or we can answer your questions.  If we can help you, please call our office and ask to speak with one of our Lactation Consultants by calling 217-253-4137.

After-hours you can receive assistance and support through our Breastfeeding Support Group page by clicking the button below.
